Have you ever dreaded holding a tough – but necessary – conversation with an employee, coworker, or boss? Do you put off such conversations for far too long? Have you ever launched into a difficult conversation without being well prepared, only to have the interaction spiral out of control? Most leaders will probably answer yes to at least one, if not all, of these questions.

Taking Conversations from Difficult to Doable: 3 Models to Master Tough Conversations can help you “bite the bullet” and say what needs saying in the most effective possible way.  Lynne Cunningham, MPA, FACHE, is the author of a new book on the topic.  She explains which why we shy away from these critical conversations and provides the tools and tactics to navigate them confidently and effectively.  On May 6 she will be with Studer Community Institute to share tips on how to select the right conversation model and then structure the dialogue for success.

Lynne Cunnigham, MPA, FACHE

With four decades of healthcare experience, including 30 years as a strategic planning and marketing consultant, Lynne is uniquely qualified for her role as both coach and International Speaker. She has worked with hospitals, health systems, medical groups, organ procurement organizations, and associations all over the country to define, measure, and evaluate the perception of quality among patients, employees, physicians and the community. Lynne brings a broad base of experience and views to her clients.

A skilled facilitator with keen insight into group dynamics, Lynne is able to work individually with organizations to help them determine the best way to apply and integrate Studer Group processes as they create their own “fingerprint” for their
cultural change journey. With Lynne’s broad perspective of how to apply the Studer Group process in a variety of healthcare settings, she is a frequent speaker on Studer Group basics and how to measure return on investment with application of Studer Group’s Evidence-Based LeadershipSM tools. In addition to working with leaders,
Lynne works with Boards of Directors to help them understand their role in today’s changing healthcare environment and is on-hand to facilitate discussions when they are making decisions for the future – for example, is a management or ownership change appropriate, should the facility partner with or acquire another organization, etc. Her knowledge of the healthcare industry and her ability to work with executives, other leaders, Boards and providers brings instant credibility to her assignments.

Lynne is notably skilled as a strategic planning facilitator and works with hospital, medical group, associations and other organizations that impact healthcare as they create or update their annual goals and long-term strategies. On-site facilitation with executives, other leaders, Board members and physicians will result in strategies which your team will buy-into and execution of the plans which are developed. Lynne will also facilitate the development of a Decision Making Matrix to help your organization identify the best strategic partnerships and how to assess the viability of any specific alliances.
